Executive Pastor

I am thrilled to be working with such a gifted and passionate team of people who live to serve Jesus and his church here in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide through the ministry of AACC. After an initial career in software development, I heard the call to full-time Christian ministry in 2007 and served for many years in a Uniting church context primarily in a local congregation in the Adelaide Hills (focussing on ministry with families and children) but also for an 18-month stint in a state-based role. I love working in teams and continue to serve the wider church through the ministries of GENTS Father & Sons and Leaders2go.

I am passionate to see people grow in their faith and as disciples (apprentices) of Jesus, released in their areas of gifting to serve God and his world through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in their lives. I believe strongly in the importance of intergenerational ministry and in the church encouraging and supporting parents/grandparents in their God-given role as primary disciplers of their children. I also believe it is important to not take life too seriously - to have fun and to enjoy all that God has so generously given us. I have come to understand afresh the importance of operating out of rest and in my free time I enjoy walking, pottering around in the garden, fixing things and a good cup of strong black coffee.

In terms of my own spiritual walk, I have had the great joy of knowing and following Jesus for as long as I can remember. My parents came to faith when I was very young and raised me to love and to know him and for this, I am so grateful. I was born and bred in the UK where my father was an Anglican minister before we moved to Adelaide in 1991. I then returned to finish my uni degree before moving here permanently two years later. I met my wife, Kate, and we now have five children who never fail to delight, inspire and exhaust us… seriously, we have been so blessed by each and every one of them and they continue to teach us daily about grace, patience, forgiveness and joy.
